Therney leaves Iceland
Freezer trawler Therney sailed from Reykjavík yesterday at 1400 after having taken on fuel ahead of its long delivery trip to South Africa.
HB Grandi has sold Therney to Sea Harvest Corporation (Pty) Ltd. in South Africa for $13.50 million, equivalent to ISK1.4 billion. The new owners took delivery of the vessel on Thursday.
Therney has been a highly successful trawler for HB Grandi. It was built in Norway in 1992 and has been operated by HB Grandi since it came to Iceland in 1993.
Events are taking place quickly at HB Grandi, which expects to take delivery of its new wetfish trawler Viðey in Turkey next week. Viðey is expected to arrive in Reykjavík before Christmas.
