Viðey making progress

‘It’s going well and we’re aiming to have the ship home by Christmas. The engine will be tested shortly with the generators being started up this week,’ said Thórarinn Sigurbjörnsson, HB Grandi’s marine superintendent at the Celiktrans yard in Turkey.

The yard is now working on completing Viðey, the last of the series of three fresher trawlers for HB Grandi. Two of the trawlers, Engey and Akurey, have already been delivered.

According to Thórarinn Sigurbjörnsson, the yard teams are working on outfitting and electrics in the accommodation areas and good progress is being made. Work has begun on fitting out the wheelhouse and the fishroom chiller system is also being fitted.

‘The plan is for the first sea trials to take place in the first week in November and for Viðey to arrive in Reykjavík before Christmas,’ Thórarinn Sigurbjörnsson said.
