Viðey launched in Turkey
HB Grandi’s trawler Viðey was launched in Turkey last week. The ship is the third in the series of new trawlers designed to land fresh catches, built at the Celiktrans yard in Istanbul. The previous two trawlers, Engey and Akurey, have already been delivered to Iceland.
Those present at the launching were HB Grandi CEO Vilhjálmur Vilhjálmsson, chief financial officer Jónas Guðbjörnsson, freezer trawler fleet manager Loftur Bjarni Gíslason and Ellert Eiríksson, currently skipper of Ottó N Thorláksson, who will take over as Viðey’s skipper. Also present were board members Rannveig Rist and Anna Sverrisdóttir. Rannveig Rist had the honour of cutting the tape to send the new ship down the slipway.
Viðey is scheduled to be delivered before the end of the year.
