Deutsche See's chefs seminar visits HB Grandi
Last week HB Grandi was visited by a party of eight master chefs from Germany who were in Iceland as part of a trip hosted by the seafood company Deutsche See. The German company is an important customer of HB Grandi, buying a range of products that includes golden redfish, saithe and cod.
The party of chefs spent five days in Iceland with the aim of reaching a closer acquaintance with Icelandic cuisine. Their time was well spent, and included a trip to the Westman Islands to visit restaurants there, and there was also an opportunity to meet Icelandic chefs that are members of the national culinary team.
The visit to HB Grandi’s headquarters in Norðurgarður meant an early start with a reception on board the wetfish trawler Helga María. After that, there was a visit to the Thúfa art installation before they got a presentation of HB Grandi’s activities. A representative of Promote Iceland presented the Iceland Responsible Fisheries Programme, which operates a logo of origin and a certification scheme for sustainable utilisation of Icelandic fish stocks.
Following the presentation, the guests got a guided tour of the Norðurgarður production plant and the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the selection of fresh golden redfish, saithe and cod products.
Deutsche See is an important customer for HB Grandi. The company produces consumer products for the German retail market and restaurant trade. The German chefs who joined in the trip to Iceland are representatives of some of these restaurants, which include a two-Michelin-star restaurant in the heart of Berlin, a sushi restaurant in Munich and a Scandinavian restaurant in Bremerhaven.
