Successful sea trials
The new pelagic vessel for HB Grandi, Víkingur AK, underwent sea trials in Turkey last week, which were successful according to the company’s marine superintendent Thórarinn Sigurbjörnsson at the Celiktrans yard in Istanbul.
‘There were no surprises during the sea trials and everything went like clockwork. We expect to sign the necessary papers today. Then it’s up to customs to release the ship so it can leave for the planned delivery trip to Iceland on Sunday,’ Thórarinn Sigurbjörnsson said.
Víkingur is the sister ship to Venus NS that was built at the same yard and delivered in May. Víkingur’s skipper will be Albert Sveinsson and he will take the new ship home to Iceland. Víkingur is expected to arrive in its home port of Akranes well before Christmas.
